“It felt like real Thanksgiving.”
Like most holiday gatherings, there was food, and there was laughter, and there were kids running among all of the adults watching them. This year, like every year for the past decade-and-a-half, the Oklahoma City chapter of EWI hosted a Thanksgiving meal for every student at Positive Tomorrows and their families.
“It was a wonderful afternoon for all of our students, families and staff,” said Susan Agel, President and Principal at Positive Tomorrows. “One of our goals is to empower parents and this gives them the opportunity to participate in a normal school event without fear of not fitting in. It was truly a celebration of all we have to be thankful for at Positive Tomorrows.”
This year’s event took us to the library at the Classen School of Advanced Studies, where our families were treated to live music from some of Classen students.
Before we tucked into lunch, our students gathered in front of their parents to sing Steve Seskin’s “I am a Positive Tomorrows Star.” [Listen to “I am a Positive Tomorrows Star”]
Families were also treated to family portrait from visiting photographer Katie Hayes Luke.
