Be part of the Positive Tomorrows Community

It takes a strong community to break the cycle of homelessness, and there is no stronger community than Oklahoma City. At Positive Tomorrows, we have created a wonderful local volunteer community of volunteers, donors and sponsors, staff and board members. Each group works together to provide stability, hope, and empowerment to help create better futures for kids and their families.

You make an impact

By donating time or money to helping homeless youths succeed, you are addressing an immediate need today that leaves an impact on the lives of children and families for a lifetime. Many of our alumni stay connected with us year after year and long after they have overcome homelessness.

Our History

Positive Tomorrows began in 1989 as a collaborative effort of community organizations that recognized the educational needs of homeless children were not being met. Founding partners included Oklahoma City Public Schools, the State Department of Education, CampFire USA, Neighborhood Services Organization and the YWCA.

As an affiliate of the OKC Public Schools System, our purpose was to help homeless families collect needed documentation to enroll their children into a public school. From our founding until 2006, that was what we did. Then, a change in the Federal Grant guidelines caused us to become ineligible for government funding. While many of our students still came from the OKC Public Schools, we were no longer formally affiliated.

Today, Positive Tomorrows is a private, tuition-free elementary school meeting the educational and social service needs of homeless children and their families.

Our School-Wide Goals, 2014-2015

pt-2015001 Every year at Positive Tomorrows, our staff collaboratively creates three goals that we strive to achieve as a team within our school. This year’s goals are listed below.

  1. Students leave school each day feeling successful and empowered.
  2. Our atmosphere is safe, supportive, and peaceful with adults modeling calm behavior.
  3. We work as a team, collaborating with each other and with stakeholders.

You can be part of making these goals a reality. Together we can break the cycle.
Be part of the solution!
